Christina Dommer
October - December 2024
Christina Dommer (any pronouns) was born, lives, and works on the traditional, unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh people (i.e. Vancouver, B.C.), and works predominantly in drawing and painting. Their practice involves the political implications of landscapes, and an adoration of the process of creative labour. She also has a deep interest in interrogating the hierarchy of images and the boundaries between ‘high’ and ‘low’ art. He has a diploma in Journalism from Langara College and a BFA from Emily Carr University.

Attending SAR was just what I needed to get started on producing a professional body of work. I completed a bunch of projects I had sitting around half-finished, and started some new smaller pieces. The setting of the Similkameen Valley was a nice change of scenery from Vancouver. Best of all, I wasn’t interrupted by the extra duties expected from me at home.
